With a combined economics and engineering background, Owen Jung is an accomplished economist with a speciality in economic impact analysis using Input-Output modelling techniques, including the estimation of direct, indirect and induced effects. Over a 15-year career in the public sector, Mr. Jung conducted complex quantitative analysis to evaluate numerous government initiatives, as well as provided expert economic advice to executive government leadership.
Prior to his career in economics, Mr. Jung worked as an engineering consultant, primarily focused on major infrastructure projects in northern Canada, including regional development in the Arctic.
Now at Nichols Applied Management, Mr. Jung offers clients a wide variety of analytical services, ranging from economic impact assessment to economic sector analysis to fiscal impact modeling.
In addition to his consulting work, Mr. Jung is a sessional instructor of environmental economics in the School of Environment and Sustainability at Royal Road University in British Columbia. He has also authored or co-authored peer-reviewed publications in academic journals, appearing in several academic conferences over the years. Mr. Jung is also author of several online research reports and analytical products published by the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.
